Karel Čapek's Year of the Gardener: How the Garden Heals Body and Soul 🌱

The Gardener: Poet of Clay and Life

Excerpt from The Year of the Gardener, Karel Čapek, 1929

"When I was only a distant and distracted observer of the finished work of gardens, I thought of gardeners as people of a particularly poetic and gentle spirit, who cultivate the fragrance of flowers and listen to the song of birds. Now, as I consider the matter more closely, I realize that the true gardener is not a person who cultivates flowers, but a person who cultivates soil. He is a being who burrows into the earth and leaves us, the budgies, to see what lies above. He lives immersed in the earth. He builds his monument in the compost heap. If he came to the Garden of Eden, he would sniff intoxicatedly and say, 'Here, sir, is humus!' I think he would forget to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; rather, he would see how he could bring some of this wheelbarrow of Edenic soil to the Lord."

Or he would discover that the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil wasn't surrounded by a pretty little bowl-shaped garden, and he would start writhing in the dirt, not knowing what was hanging over his head. 'Adam, where are you?' the Lord would call. 'Now,' the gardener would reply over his shoulder, 'I have no more time.'

If the human gardener had evolved through natural selection at the beginning of the world, he would probably have evolved into an invertebrate. Why does a gardener have a back anyway? Only to straighten it, it seems, sometimes, just to say, 'My back hurts!'"

The healing power of nature: fractals, the golden ratio and scientific findings

Trees and gardens, even a small piece of greenery in your home, are healing, and this is scientifically proven.

The fractal principle and the constant of the Golden Ratio are manifest in fundamental biological existence, but also in the electromagnetic discharges of natural phenomena. We also find them in the discharge of electricity itself, which is fascinating. The Golden Ratio of the fractal principle accompanies every living organism in the universe, as Prof. Jan Rak, quantum physicist, scientist, and visionary, notes in his publications and lectures.

How do plants perceive, think and feel?

"What Do Plants Know," or the sensory world of plants, was introduced by scientist and popularizer of botany and natural sciences Daniel Chamovitz. The Wall Street Journal says of the book: "A captivating work of science that shows how plants continue to inspire and amaze us."

Original English: "Enough absorbing science to admit that plants continue to inspire and amaze us." ―The Wall Street Journal

Helena Neumann's special recognition for the magical realm of medicinal herbs

"Even if some power-hungry being, a dictator, a government, or even an artificial intelligence were to ban herbs, every reasonable person considers the fact that most herbs have existed since the beginning. Since the cave. They have helped, served, healed, and were therefore traditional medicine. Only then came the alternative, chemically and artificially produced remedies, of which we are now shamelessly being told that herbs are the alternative. Further scientific proof is the nomenclature of herbs. Lemon balm, clary sage, lavender. Should I add something else? You know, we humans think we choose our vocations or our messages. But I learned in the Amazon and was later confirmed by herbalists such as Wolf Dieter Storl, Arthur Hermes, and Rudolf Steiner that plants choose us. And what may bother us humans most is what Paracelsus already criticized in his work Herbarius, one of the oldest herbaria in the world, that the false teachings and forgeries are not only from Perfumed herbalists in beautiful covers, but also by the people themselves who find herbs unsuitable for their trade with human health, which can harm the plant. So search calmly, listen, and try to sense your own needs. Talk to those who have been helped and give recommendations, listen to your body, mind, and soul, and the right functional medicine from pure nature will be sent to you from the quantum-wise universe."
